eat your heart out thursday

i recently completed an assignment for a foods class that required that i choose 10 family recipes, write about any memories tied to the recipes, and make a cookbook of them. it was a fun assignment since i ended up making all of the recipes so that i could take pictures of each creation to include in the cookbook. i prefer cookbooks with pictures anyway and, to be honest, it was a great excuse to make many yummy dishes. even thought the following is a pretty standard recipe, it is the one that i am currently craving. love these cookies!

puppy drops

also known as no-bake cookies, these cookies got their appetizing name from grandma because they resemble canine excrement. no matter how yucky the name may be, these are my favorite cookies. instead of a cake, i requested these from my 17th birthday.

2 c sugar
¼ c cocoa
½ c milk
½ c butter
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
½ c peanut butter
3 c oatmeal

mix sugar, cocoa, milk and butter in a pot on medium heat and bring to a boil. let boil for 3 minutes. then add the vanilla, salt, peanut putter, and oatmeal. drop by spoonfuls on waxed paper. let them sit until firm.

Mmmm. Puppy drops.

I think I feel a cooking project with the girls coming on for tomorrow afternoon.

What were your other recipes?

MMM That sounds good, but at my house they are referred to as Cat S**T cookies. I will let you try to fill in the missing letters.

Mom told me I had to correct any implications that SHE calls these cookies Cat S**t cookies. That would just be her heathen daughters.
