I love Goodwill!
I love 1/2 off days at Goodwill. This past Saturday I went in hope of finding a specific camera for my collection, but instead found something that I have been secretly hoping to find. As a back story, my mom was given a Singer sewing machine when she graduated in 1969. She still has it today, along with a newer sewing machine and a serger. Growing up I remember looking at that Singer thinking that I wanted a sewing machine only if it was as cool at that one. Now flash forward to last Saturday when I walked into the furniture section of the Goodwill in South Tempe. I saw a sewing desk with a sewing machine that looked very much like Mom's. Upon further inspection I find that the sewing machine was a Singer Touch and Sew from 1969. In the drawers of the desk I found ALL the accessories, the manual, a sewing book from 1954, extra notions, and 2 sewing VHS tapes. The desk was marked $49.99, so I quickly called Mom to come inspect it and pinch me to insure I wasn't dreaming. She came, we plugged it in, and found it runs like a dream. I had to buy it. For $25, my dream of owning my very own 1969 Singer sewing machine came true. Upon further inspection we have come the realization that this model is one fancier than Mom's. It is currently sitting in my parent's basement waiting to be oiled. I'm not sure when I'll bring to my house because Mom has expressed that she wants to try out some of the options it offers. Once I get it home I hope to crank out some things to keep Baby quiet and occupied during church. Have I mentioned that there are 2 more Sundays left until he can go to Nursery? Not a moment too soon.

very cool! So happy for you, sewing is fun!
That is great Lydia! What a find!!
I have a Singer Featherweight sewing machine that was made in 1949, the same year I was made in! LOL Unfortunately, I paid more than $49 for it ......
That has to be the coolest thrift store find EVER. How awesome!
Ahhh!!! That book! That table! All of it! That's rad. Possibly the most awesome Christmas was the one when Grandmama spent $15 on an old machine and table for me. I need to research how old it is... but I'm never giving it up.
Score!
What a sweet find! Oh my goodness, this is fabulous!
I scored 2 of the exact same Bernina record machines a while back. One from my mother-in-law and one from my cousin. They definitely don't make them like they used to.
